Welcome to the 79th American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State Session. The American Legion Auxiliary is about our dedication to “Enhancing the Lives of our Veterans, Military, their Families, Children and Youth and our Communities.”
Congratulations to you for being selected to the American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State, you have become part of this amazing group of young women that will be our leaders in the years to come. Take every opportunity to become involved in the process, step outside your comfort zone and realize the potential that you didn’t realize you have.
This will be a fast-paced week of learning, you will understand what your responsibilities are as a citizen, the importance of voting, and how important your role is as a citizen in your community. Your Patriotism will grow and you will more clearly understand the sacrifices made to keep our land free and the importance of the American Flag. Accepting others’ ideas and options that may differ from yours, is ok, it is what you do with those differences that will help you become a good leader.
I know you will have an amazing week, have lots of fun and laughter, I look forward to seeing many of you! Have a wonderful week attending the American Legion Auxiliaries premier program ALA!

Dear American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State Delegates,
Congratulations on being chosen as delegates for the June 16-21, 2024, session of American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. A big thank you to all of our counselors for giving their time, talent and treasure to make this session possible. As we build our mock governments at the city, county and state levels to form the fifty first State of Badger you will experience democracy in action as you participate in your cities, counties and political parties. Along with the leadership in action experience you will develop many new friendships and discover a lot about yourself. Be open to listening to others as you participate in the session with a spirit of civility.
Our expectations are that you will take what you learn and experience at American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State and apply it to your life as a productive citizen of your community, the state and our country. The American Legion Auxiliary is a patriotic organization with many programs that promote veteran family well being, education, community service and Americanism. Our session this week is one of those programs that promotes the development of the future citizens and voters of our country.
Let's work together to form our State of Badger, as we as counselors and delegates form mock governments at the city, county and state levels. When you return to your schools, be sure to share your experience with your fellow students. You will also have an opportunity to come back next year as an assistant counselor and be eligible for scholarships when you have completed the 2024 session.
